The Queensland and Kangaroos icon, who also serves as the Players Association president, says he's been disappointed and embarrassed by the flood of negative headlines over the summer.
Five players have been charged with offences against women, there's been several damaging videos leaked and a couple of drink driving charges for good measure.
Smith says it really is time to grow up as a game and players have to understand that there is a responsibility that comes with being a professional athlete.
