Marshall along with fellow-half Shaun Johnson helped steer New Zealand to a convincing 34-14 victory over Tonga in their Pacific Nations test in Auckland.
The 34-year-old was visibly emotional pre-match in his return to international league after a seven year absence.
Maguire says Marshall did a great job to overcome the pre-match jitters, and linked up well with his other teammates.
He says Marshall's grateful, and he along with Johnson, Brandon Smith and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck were all strong in the spine.
Meanwhile Samoa have beaten Papua New Guinea 24-6, while Fiji have thumped Lebanon 58-14
